Printed QR codes work beautifully when the customer comes to you. They work a lot less well when you go to the customer. A plumber finishing a job in someone's kitchen, a server clearing a table, a stallholder at a Saturday market, none of them want to dig a laminated card out of a bag at the exact moment the customer is happiest.
So we built the obvious fix: your Google review QR code, as an Apple Wallet pass. It is free on every Trustaroo plan, there is no limit on how many locations or phones use it, and setting one up takes about two minutes.
In short
- Trustaroo generates an Apple Wallet review QR code pass for each of your locations.
- It is completely free, no plan requirement, no add-on, no cap on downloads.
- Any number of iPhones can install the same pass.
- You control the colors, headline, back text, and logo.
- There is no Google Wallet version; Android teams should use the printable PDF or the short link.
What the Apple Wallet review pass actually is
Trustaroo generates an Apple Wallet pass for each of your locations. The pass carries the same QR code as your printed material, so anyone holding it on an iPhone can show the code and let a customer scan it on the spot.
The customer lands on your review page, taps 1 to 5 stars, and is routed by your review filter exactly as they would be from a printed code. Nothing about your setup changes, the pass is simply a new way to carry it.
It is a generic Wallet pass, not a loyalty card or a ticket. On the front you get your business name, your logo, a headline, the location name, and the QR barcode. On the back you get instructions, the full review link, and a "Powered by Trustaroo" line.
How to add your review QR code to Apple Wallet
Getting a pass takes about two minutes:
- Sign in at my.trustaroo.app and open your business profile.
- Scroll to the Locations panel and find the row for the location you want.
- Select Add to Apple Wallet. Trustaroo builds the pass and downloads a
.pkpassfile. - Get the file onto the iPhone that will carry it, AirDrop, an email attachment, or a shared drive all work.
- Tap the file on the iPhone and confirm the prompt to add it to Wallet.
New accounts can also grab the pass straight from the onboarding wizard, where it appears as one of the three ways to start collecting reviews.
Full step-by-step instructions live in the Apple Wallet pass guide.
Is the Apple Wallet pass free? Yes, with no restrictions
No plan requirement, no add-on, no extra charge. Every Trustaroo account can generate passes, and there is no cap on any of it:
- Every location gets its own pass with its own QR code.
- Every phone can install the same pass, it is not tied to a person or a device, so a ten-person team installs the same file ten times.
- Every download is free, including each time you regenerate a pass after changing the design.
That is the whole story. There is no "Apple Wallet tier."
Make the pass look like your business
A pass in someone else's colors is not much of a brand moment, so the pass is yours to design. Open Business profile > Apple Wallet pass:
Colors
Start from one of three presets, Brand, Soft, or Slate, then fine-tune the background, text, and label colors individually. A live preview shows what you are building as you go.
Text
Write your own front headline, up to 40 characters. Leave it empty and you get the default headline in English or Dutch, depending on the language you use Trustaroo in. You can also add up to 500 characters on the back of the pass for staff instructions, an offer, or a thank-you note.
Logo
Upload your logo for the front of the pass. If you do not, the Trustaroo logo is used. Customers on Premium branding can reuse their review page logo with one click, but uploading the same file directly costs nothing and works on any plan. Notification and lock-screen icons stay Trustaroo either way.
One thing worth knowing: Apple Wallet does not refresh a pass that is already installed. After you change the design, download the pass again and reinstall it on your team's phones.
When a Wallet pass beats a printed QR code
The pass is at its best when the code has to travel with a person rather than sit on a surface:
- Mobile trades. Show the code from the van after the job, with nothing to print and nothing to lose.
- Table service. Present it with the bill instead of hunting for a card that walked off the table an hour ago.
- Front desks and counters. One swipe, no unlocking, no opening a browser to find a link.
- Markets, fairs, and pop-ups. No stand, no stickers, no laminating.
For a fixed spot that never moves, printed material still wins, a sticker on the counter keeps working when nobody is standing there. The pass is not a replacement for print. It covers the moments print cannot reach.
If you want both, the Google review QR code download gives you the same code as a print-ready image.
What about Android and Google Wallet?
There is no Google Wallet version of this pass. If your team is on Android, the printable PDF, a printed QR code, or simply sending the short link over WhatsApp or SMS all do the same job.
Getting the pass to your team
There is no in-app way to send the pass to staff. Download the .pkpass file once and share the file itself: email it to each phone, AirDrop it in the staff room, or put it in your shared drive. Each person taps it and confirms.
Give each team the pass for the location they actually work at. Every location produces its own code, and mixing them up means scans and ratings land against the wrong location in your dashboard.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Apple Wallet review pass free?
Yes. The Apple Wallet pass is included on every Trustaroo plan at no extra cost, with no cap on locations, devices, or downloads.
Do I need a paid plan to use the Apple Wallet pass?
No. Every Trustaroo account can generate and download passes. The only Premium-linked detail is the one-click shortcut that reuses your review page logo, and you can upload the same logo file directly on any plan.
How many phones can install the same pass?
As many as you like. The pass is not tied to a person or a device, so a ten-person team installs the same .pkpass file ten times.
Does the Apple Wallet pass work on Android?
No. There is no Google Wallet version. On Android, use the printable PDF, a printed QR code, or send the short review link over WhatsApp or SMS.
Do I need a separate pass for each location?
Yes. Every location produces its own pass with its own QR code, so scans and ratings land against the right location in your dashboard.
Can I change the colors, headline, and logo on the pass?
Yes. In Business profile > Apple Wallet pass you can pick a Brand, Soft, or Slate preset, fine-tune background, text, and label colors, write a front headline up to 40 characters, add up to 500 characters on the back, and upload your own logo.
Does an installed pass update when I change the design?
No. Apple Wallet does not refresh a pass that is already installed. After saving changes, download the pass again from the Locations panel and reinstall it on your team's phones.
What does the QR code on the pass link to?
The same short link as your printed QR code. Customers land on your review page, pick 1 to 5 stars, and are routed by your review filter exactly as they would be from print.
